Starting out with a chainsaw and basic milling gear, I source unwanted timber from farms and houses. I like to think this is environmentally ethical. A lot of this timber is either heaped and burnt or dumped. What a waste!
Inspiration comes from the source and the medium itself. I find nothing better than opening up an old log to find rich natural colours and mad grain patterns like birdseye, fiddle-back and lacing. None of this can be manufactured or cultured.
Using these natural characteristics, I try to create pieces that serve a practical purpose as well as bring a piece of the bush into people’s homes.
