Shirl Arlov is unable to exhibit at Nara Dreaming 2017 however have left her work on page etc. as you may like to look at it and learn about Shirl.
My name is Shirlene Arlov.
Six years ago I moved to live here in Central Victoria with my husband and two children, from Darwin.
I have not had any formal training in Art, but have enjoyed painting off and on for most of my life.
I get my inspiration from simple things, usually images that evoke a sense of peacefulness, connection and reflection.
I have been very fortunate to have lived for many years in Northern Australia and much of my work is a reflection of that time.
I have a great love and admiration for the First Nation People, and have learnt a great deal from the women I had the privilege of working with. My basket paintings are a reflection of those times living and working on remote and beautiful communities.
I travelled a lot as a child and developed an early appreciation of our rich, natural environment.
I find certain objects like old teapots evoke memories, and encourage more to be made.
I hope you enjoy viewing my art as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to do so. Shirlene.
